Who's Doin' Work?
Okay...final exams are behind us and the new quarter has officially begun. We need some goals:
-
Work out in weightroom a minimum of 2 x's per week. 3x's per week preferred.
-
Establish an academic routine that enables you to succeed. Sit up front, plan ahead, do your homework, organize notes, complete any and all extra credit - you'll need it come spring, and read your assignments ahead of time = BETTER TEST SCORES!
-
Practice your baseball skills regularly. Do some WORK! PREPARE YOURSELF.
Weekly weightroom workouts will continue on Monday - Wednesday - and Friday at 3:15pm. ALL ARE INVITED!
The 4-on-1 Baseball Sessions will continue on Thursday & Sunday evenings. During those sessions, players will throw, field, and hit within a 45-minute time block. Coach Potter will coordinate the scheduling of those sessions. We'll try to integrate the younger players into these workouts, but our main priority is to get the varsity-level players ready for the upcoming season.

Other Notes:
1. Tryouts: The squad plans to hold tryouts on March 12, 13, and14. Players will be evaluated on speed, arm strength and accuracy of throws, fielding technique, and hitting (contact, power, bunting).
2. Spring Break?
This season, both the Varsity and JV Baseball team have a game on Tuesday, April 3. It's very likely, we'll practice on Wednesday and Thursday of that week. On Friday - everyone is off, including baseball. There's No School and "Your" Spring Break begins - the players will have Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off. No games or practice. We'll need all the players back in the afternoon on Monday, April 9 to practice. There's a game scheduled on Tuesday, April 10. In baseball, a full spring break just doesn't exist.
3. Team Shoes? Some guys have asked about what kind of cleats the varsity will wear this season. Most players prefer white cleats and some might just want to wear the cleats they purchased last season.
So, we will not purchase "team cleats" - but we will advise that if you intend to purchase new cleats - try to go with a brand that features more white and has a black accent.
